Microsoft Office 365 Cash Back Program is BACK!

Cash Back Office 365 promotion valid till 31st of March 2014. Cash Back is available to all Microsoft resellers (partners) who are registered with Cash Back and selling legitimate Microsoft licenses in eligible territories.

To qualify for reimbursement, your sales should meet the eligibility criteria for any selected Cash Back offer. The criteria typically include, but are not limited to:

  • sales date for Open Licenses
  • Microsoft product
  • License type
  • Customer segment

Please note that there is a minimum and a maximum number of Licenses per customer for each Cash Back offer.

Cash Back is paid to resellers in the form of a credit note through an authorized Microsoft Distributor. The credit notes are paid within 90 days after the reseller claim has been validated and approved for payment.

To apply for Cash Back:

To make a Cash Back claim, you must register for the Cash Back program (or sign in if you are already registered) and submit a reimbursement request (claim), along with all required documents.

Cash Back claims must be submitted during the open claiming period for a selected Cash Back offer. All you have to do, is provide the Open Agreement number, customer and distributor names for this Open Agreement and attach a copy of the customer invoice for the submitted claim. Please don’t forget to attach a copy of the customer invoice. Otherwise it won’t be possible to finalize the claim submission.

Important notice: Before submitting your claim, make sure you review all eligibility criteria outlined for the selected Cash Back offer.

Office 365 SharePoint Management Shell

In previous post we connected to our Office 365 subscription check subscription status and in addition connected to Exchange and imported Exchange cmdlets.

Now we are going to connect to our SharePoint and do some stuff using PowerShell, to connect we will need SharePoint Online Management Shell, PowerShell module that allows us to manage SharePoint in Office 365, users, site collections, and sites.

Download the SharePoint Online Management Shell (32-bit and 64-bit versions of the shell are available)

After you download and install SharePoint Online Management Shell, find it in Program files and run

After you run we will connect to our SharePoint tenant using this command

Connect-SPOService –URL https://(YOURSITE) –Credential

Aster successful connection, lets do some stuff, for example view of our SharePoint sites list using command:


Alternatively, you can use the Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment (ISE), which is preferred and recommended scripting environment. After you have installed the SharePoint Online Management Shell, the Windows PowerShell cmdlets for SharePoint Online will be available on your computer.

Start the Windows PowerShell ISE, select the Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.PowerShell module from the command browser

You will be able to see the available Windows PowerShell cmdlets for SharePoint Online.

Office 365 PowerShell remoting the basics

Office 365 is designed to be very oriented to Windows PowerShell and in fact that not all administration tasks are available through the Office 365 Administration Portal’s Graphical User Interface (GUI), but they are all available through PowerShell. Therefore, Windows PowerShell is the superset administration tool and a definite requirement in your toolkit.

In addition of PowerShell we also need Windows Azure AD Module and Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment (ISE)

Before we download and install Windows Azure AD Module we need to install Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant.

Download Online Services Sign-in Assistant latest version from here. After you will install it next we need to install Windows Azure AD Module you can download latest from here read latest updates in documentation.

OK, after downloading and installing all components lets try to connect to our Office 365 subscription there is no difference in connection and using in Trial or Regal Subscription, if you do not have subscription yet, register your trial from here 

Find in programs or on your desktop Windows Azure Active Directory Module for Windows PowerShell and run it.

All we need to connect to our Office 365 is:

$cred = Get-Credential
Connect-MsolService -Credential $cred

after entering you credentials, lets try some command, lets check our subscription status


So that’s all, we are connected from PowerShell, you can also save command to .ps1 file for later use, and do not forgot to Set-ExecutionPolicy –ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted otherwise you will get errors running .ps1 file.

The same way you can use commands and script that you saved in .ps1 in Windows PowerShell Integrated Scripting Environment (ISE). We will use later PowerShell ISE for easy management.

For administering Exchange you might want to import cmdlets 

$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri -Credential $Cred -Authentication Basic –AllowRedirection
Import-PSSession $Session

It is important that you close a PSSession after you are done. The reason for closing a PSSession is because of the connection limit in place as a security measure. If you do not close a PSSession, you will need to wait for the session to time out. If there are five sessions of PSSession open, you will not be able to establish additional sessions

Remove-PSSession $Session

Microsoft Online Services Diagnostics and Logging Support Toolkit

Microsoft Online Services Diagnostics and Logging Support Toolkit (MOSDAL) performs tests and collects data for Online Services Support professionals and IT professionals to troubleshoot Office 365 configuration issues. The tests contains few categories, such as Exchange, Lync, and Applications. The types of information that MOSDAL collects include the following:

  • System configuration information
  • Network configuration information
  • Registry entries pertinent to Office 365
  • Network ports
  • HTTPS requests
  • Information about Office 365 applications; for example, Office Professional Plus Subscription

Running some test, MOSDAL requesting Office 365 logon credentials. Depending on the number of services you selected, MOSDAL might take some time to collect information to be used for troubleshooting.


After it has gathered all the information, you will be provided with the option to open the file location where all the information is exported into organized folders and files. If you run MOSDAL multiple times, the data will be organized in folders with respective timestamps


MOSDAL collects a lot of information, and it is sometimes difficult to locate and interpret the data. From the MOSDAL download site, you should download and read the MOSDAL training manual, which will walk you through the types of data being gathered, where to locate the data, and how the data can be used for troubleshooting purposes.

The new Office 365 Partner Admin Center provides Partners new and enhanced tools to manage their Office 365 customers.  The new Office 365 Partner admin center is rolling out to partners worldwide over the next few weeks.  Previously, with Partner tools in the Office 365 admin center, you could perform delegated administration tasks on behalf of customers and create trial invitations, purchase offers, and offers for delegated administration. With the tools in the new Partner admin center, you are now also able to:

  • View the customers for which you have delegated admin privileges—all in one place.
  • Easily find, select, and perform administrative tasks on behalf of your customers.
  • View your customers’ Office 365 service health status and details.
  • Create, edit, and view service requests on behalf of your customers.
