The Impact of Artificial Intelligence has already changed the world in many ways, and I want to share my experience, how newbie, far from the world of programming, was able to develop in a couple of days fully cloud native app service.

Background . I've never had a passion for coding. In fact, the only time I wrote code was when I typed “Hello World” and at once realized that it wasn't for me. However, at the beginning of my career, I had to modify scripts - from Bash, VBScript, and PowerShell to specialized ones, such as Veritas NetBackup, Oracle RMAN and others. But it wasn't the same as coding.

Nowadays . I got in touch with Open AI before it was widely known, as part of the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub program. After a while, when the world heard the announcement of ChatGPT, its use became even easier thanks to its user-friendly interface, as opposed to working with the OpenAI API directly. However, everything changed for me in 2023 when OpenAI announced GPT Builder, which allowed the creation of custom versions of GPT’s that combined specific and custom knowledge. Faced with limitation on real-time data, actual data, as part of one of my hobby projects, I needed up-to-date information on economic and stock market data. As a possibility, connecting an external API to GPT was solution. Today, the offerings of stock market data API services are large, from basic services for a minimal fee, to PolygonIO with many services at an average price, to systems with “hot” data straight from NASDAQ.

Beginning . I wondered what if I asked ChatGPT if it can help me with API. After opening ChatGPT Plus and asking a simple question about the possibility of help writing an API, I received a convincing answer: “Yes, of course, let's get started!” Thus began my adventure into the world of service functionality, service design, and logical processing. Using just four tools - ChatGPT Plus , GitHub Copilot , Visual Studio Code , and really time to time my brain - I developed a fully functioning API service that pulls real-time economics and finance market data. The API system is easily deployed directly into any cloud service, AWS or Azure, published code on GitHub and running Azure App Services for Linux at a minimal afford and costs was very easy.

Around 5000 lines of code; a code review in a popular environment showed high ratings and minimal recommendations, suggestions form format, and not compliance or security or important aspects.

As a result, I published Finance Counselor (.edu) GPT in the OpenAI GPT public store and a fully functional API service at the backend api.sugra.ai

Main Point

If a newbie, far from the world of programming, was able to manage in couple of days and launch a service in the cloud, imagine what a professional who has worked as a coder or developer all his life can do: it will really make his work easier, improve the quality of his work, and save time. AI is not only changing the professional field, but also opening new opportunities for those who previously stood on the side of technological innovation.

Of course, this is just one example . Imagine a world where, at a minimum, routine and repetitive tasks are performed by artificial intelligence with incredible accuracy and speed. From medicine, where AI helps in diagnosing diseases in the first stages, to education, in the area of personal productivity, where each of us is faced with the need to manage time and tasks, AI can become an indispensable assistant.

From the past to future

A few years ago, the CODE.org initiative, supported by everyone, from Mark Zuckerberg to Bill Gates to Barack Obama, encouraged people to learn coding. As a result, many parents wanted their children to become coders, believing that the world needed people who could write code to drive development. The goal was inspiring, but it focused on coding rather than developing analytical and management skills or logic and thinking.

Recently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, “kids shouldn’t learn coding - let AI do it.” He made that surprising announcement at the World Government Summit in Dubai, pushing back against traditional tech leaders who advised young people to learn coding. He argued that even in the initial stages of the artificial intelligence revolution, programming is no longer a necessary skill. “In AI, by coding, people can focus on more distant areas such as biology, education, manufacturing, or economics,” he said.

This sounds like future technologies for individual methods using nano robots injections - it seems fantastic. "The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed" - William Gibson.

Despite this , Sam Altman, the head of OpenAI, spoke a lot about AI at the Davos 2024 forum, emphasizing that we should not underestimate the human element, do not bet on AI alone, and do not expect more from it than it can offer.

There is nothing impossible for todays Homo Sapiens, challenging yes, but not impossible. As I shared before, at the end, we can have knowledge, technical skills, and the ability to build supercomputers, but if there are no such underestimated qualities, and sometimes poorly developed, while in others are completely absent as; humanity, empathy, and no less important, but more common, the ability to adapt to new conditions, change, stress resistance, think and be able to correctly express thoughts, in the future will be much more in demand than just technical skills and AI wont help and save us.

Thinking about the future means thinking about the present, looking at your life in a completely different way and thinking on a completely different scale.
