Exchange Server 2013 Service Pack 1

Exchange Server 2013 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is now available for download! Exchange 2013 SP1 resolves issues that were found in previous versions of Exchange Server 2013. This update rollup is highly recommended for all Exchange Server 2013 customers. SP1 is the first service pack issued in the new Exchange Server cumulative update release model. SP1 is essentially CU4 and include all fixes included in previously released cumulative updates for Exchange 2013.

You can use the SP1 release to perform a new installation or update an existing Exchange Server 2013 installation (on any CU level or without CU) SP1 cannot be uninstalled and its requires schema update.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 support – adds WS 2012 R2 as supported OS and AD version for Exchange Server 2013
  • S/MIME support for OWA – delivers cmdlet to support sending S/MIME messages from OWA
  • Exchange 2013 Edge Transport Role – the role is made available in Exchange 2013, functionality is equivalent to the Exchange 2010 Edge role
  • Exchange Admin Center cmdlet logging – allows admins to review PowerShell commands executed by EAC GUI
  • ADFS single sign on for OWA – enable users single sign-on to OWA for organizations with ADFS
  • SSL offloading – allows organizations to terminate SSL activities on an alternate server
  • MAPI/HTTP connectivity for Outlook (codename: Alchemy) – new communication method between Exchange and Outlook
  • Department of Defense smartcard auth
  • DAGs without Cluster Administrative Access Points

Security & Compliance

  • DLP Policy Tip support in OWA – Policy Tips will now be provided to OWA user
  • DLP classifications in Exchange based on Document fingerprints – DLP detection based on document templates such as tax forms, patent forms, etc.
  • DLP classification rules and DLP policies for new regions (Poland, Finland, Taiwan)
  • OWA Junk Mail Reporting – allows OWA users to move missed spam in the inbox or legitimate mail in the junk mail folder to the correct location and report the message to Microsoft with a few simple clicks

User Experience

  • OWA Rich Text Editor – Adds common message compose features in OWA such as tables, images, and advanced formatting
  • Mail Compose Apps – provides Office Apps during message creation

Office Outlook (Office 2013 SP1)

  • Extensibility for Outlook Compose & Attachments – (Apps for Office)
  • New HTTP-based Outlook/Exchange sync protocol replacing RPC (“Alchemy”) MAPI/HTTP connectivity for Outlook new communication method between Outlook and Exchange
  • Improved notification of necessary updates for compatibility with Office 365

Downloads contain pre-recorded prompts, grammar files, text to speech data, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) files, and Voice Mail Preview capabilities for a specific language that is supported by Exchange 2013 SP1 Unified Messaging (UM).

Note: This UM language pack must only be installed as an add-in to Exchange Server 2013 SP1 Unified Messaging.
